VooDoo BBQ & Grill was born on Mardi Gras day in 2002, right on St. Charles Avenue in the heart of New Orleans.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans means overwhelming crowds of hungry parade-goers and it was standing-room only at our front doors from day one! People loved our New Orleans-style BBQ so much we had to hustle through the streets carrying coolers packed with our slow-smoked creations to feed the masses and keep the party going.

It was a crazy way to start a restaurant and it’s been a party ever since. Our restaurants began in the New Orleans area, grew into Baton Rouge and beyond. When you walk into any VooDoo BBQ & Grill you’ll experience the same kind of fun, laid-back atmosphere and hospitality that you’d find at any southern table. It’s like a mini vacation to New Orleans. Our founders met in college and discovered they shared a passion for food, fun and great BBQ. Together they created a new category: New Orleans-style BBQ. It’s a fusion of all the best that BBQ has to offer. VooDoo BBQ & Grill brings together your favorite BBQ styles and kicks them up a notch with Caribbean, Cajun and Creole spices. 

TASTE OUR MAGIC

Our meats are dry rubbed with amazing Cajun spices and slow-smoked to perfection with oak and pecan, not swimming in sauce. Want an extra kick? We’ve created three unique BBQ sauces made with Louisiana ingredients. Then we pile on the homemade signature sides and pour you a sweet tea or Louisiana’s famous Abita Beer, each one with a decidedly southern drawl. Taste the magic of VooDoo BBQ & Grill.

WHY IS THE MEAT PINK?

​The pink color is the "smoke ring". This is an indication of true slow smoked barbecue. It is what gives our meats their distinct flavors. Even with a pink ring, our meats are fully cooked, always.

WHY THE NAME VOODOO BBQ?

We were born out of the love of the great city of New Orleans, Louisiana. We chose the name "VooDoo BBQ" because it's easily remembered, hard to forget, and is a novelty for New Orleans visitors and locals alike.

WHAT IS NEW ORLEANS-STYLE BBQ?

Like parts of the city itself, it’s something new built on a very old foundation. BBQ, or meat slow-cooked over flame or hot coals, has been around as long as people have. Virtually every culture has some version of it, whether they call it “barbecue” or not. From pulled, chopped and sliced pork in the Carolinas to Memphis-style ribs to barbecue brisket in Texas. New Orleans-style barbecue builds on all of these traditions with flavors, accents and complementary side dishes that inject the life and flair of the Crescent City into every meal.

For instance, our St. Louis-style ribs are perfectly seasoned with a dry rub that contains hints of the Caribbean - a strong influence in New Orleans.  All of our meats are served naked (without sauce) with the option of adding any combination of our Mojo, Cane Vinegar or Mango Crystal sauces — the last flavored with Louisiana’s legendary Crystal Hot Sauce. Our Rattlesnake Beans are spicy with a hint of smoke. All of this is New Orleans-style BBQ and you can top off a meal at VooDoo BBQ & Grill with our White Chocolate Bread Pudding – a true New Orleans treat.

 “New Orleans-style” has a flair and flavor that turns a visit to a VooDoo BBQ & Grill into an experience. That’s why we’ve designed our stores to incorporate Crescent City touches like lanterns, murals and ornate trim that resembles the wrought iron railings found in the French Quarter. It’s why we look not just for competence and drive in our employees, but a sense of fun and personality that can bring smiles to our guests’ faces. We want each trip to a VooDoo BBQ & Grill to be like a mini-New Orleans vacation, a time when you can loosen your tie (if you’re wearing one), and laissez les bon temps rouler - let the good times roll!
